Where is Hemophilia Gene Therapy Now?

A new European hematologist survey reported August 24 found that about 90% of physicians surveyed still believe gene therapies will be part of the future of hemophilia care, despite a difficult year for the field, including discontinued commercial programs and earlier Hemgenix supply problems. The scientific question is no longer simply “Can gene therapy work?” Increasingly it is “Who wants it, how do health systems deliver it, and how do we justify it when conventional and non-factor prophylaxis work so well?”
