Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation’s Privacy Policy

Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation (GLHF) respects the privacy of every individual who visits our website, glhf.org. This notice explains our online information practices. By visiting our website, you accept the practices described in this notice.

Information Collection and Use

GLHF is the sole owner of the information collected on our website. We will not sell your information to others outside of GLHF. We will not send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations.

GLHF collects data from visitors to our site via various registration forms for programs and/or events. Completion of any of these forms is optional. Information collected via the form is entered into GLHF’s database. Unless otherwise requested, the visitor will be placed on a list to receive GLHF email communications (GLHF Headline News, Event Emails, Program Emails and other notices of importance to the bleeding disorders community such as medical advisories), as well as occasional communications by regular mail. Visitors who do not wish to receive communications from GLHF have the opportunity to opt out at any time. Form completion also allows visitors to register online for specific events and make donations online or offline.

At no time is a visitor’s personal information shared with any individual, company, sponsor, vendor, organization or other entity outside of GLHF, except for fulfillment and mailing houses contracted by GLHF for the sole purpose of disseminating GLHF materials.

Traffic Data

Each time a visitor comes to glhf.org, we track activity such as general traffic flow (where traffic originates and how it flows on our site). We may share this information with our advertisers/sponsors, but we will not disclose your individual identity. When we do present information to outside companies regarding website traffic, no one will be able to identify or contact you.

Advertisers/Sponsors and Links: Advertisers/Sponsors or organizations that have links on our site may also collect personally identifiable information directly from you. We do not control the privacy policies of our Advertisers/Sponsors or other sites or businesses to which we provide hyperlinks or access. Please visit the sites of these businesses to review their privacy policies.

Glhf.org users should also be aware that personal information disclosed voluntarily in a comment, quote or story may be collected by others and may result in unsolicited messages from others who visit and read our website.

Except as stated in this Privacy Policy or at the time of collection, a user’s personally identifiable information will not be transferred to a party outside of GLHF. GLHF may disclose account information when we have reason to believe that disclosure is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be intentionally causing injury or to interference with GLHF’s rights or property, other glhf.org users or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities.

Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy

Protecting the privacy of young people is important to GLHF. For that reason, we do not maintain information on children.

If we do use a child’s name or photograph, we have a parent and/or guardian sign a photo release form giving us permission to use a photograph and/or a quote/comment from a child. Protecting children’s personal health information is very important to us. That is why we only use first names unless we have explicit permission to use someone’s last name.

Data Security

GLHF has in place physical, electronic and managerial procedures to protect any information collected online. All GLHF online data collection services utilize encryption for enhanced security during submission of data.

GLHF’s constituent/donor database uses an industry standard compliant product. Payments are processed using security measures, such as redundant firewalls, authentication services and an encrypted database unreachable by any public IP address. GLHF limits access of its constituent data to key personnel, on a needs only basis, to effectively carry out their duties. However, as effective as these measures are, no security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the security of our database, nor can we guarantee that the information you supply will not be intercepted while being transmitted to us over the internet.
