Medicaid Changes Can Change Everything

Both HFA and NBDF issued important updates this month concerning new Medicaid work-reporting requirements. Beginning January 1, 2027, certain adults ages 19–64 will have to document work, school, volunteering or other qualifying activities to retain Medicaid coverage unless exempt. CMS specifically cited hemophilia as a condition that may qualify as a serious or complex medical condition, but a diagnosis does not automatically guarantee an exemption. HFA urges patients to open every notice, document medical appointments and bleeding-related limitations, and discuss possible medical exemptions with their HTC.
