Why is Gene Therapy So Slow to Gain Customers?

The bleeding disorder community predicted “a cure by 2000.” While that didn’t happen until much later, gene therapy finally arrived with much anticipation and high expectations. But the enthusiasm died down when gene therapy faced significant barriers. What are those barriers and what is the future of gene therapy?
