Von Willebrand Emergency Care Manual Now Available in Spanish
NBDF is pleased to announce that the Emergency Care for Patients with von Willebrand Disease treatment manual is now available in a Spanish language version. Funding for the translation, Cuidado de Emergencia a Pacientes con Enfermedad de von Willebrand, was provided by Akron Children’s Hospital.
The manual is meant to be a reference point for emergency department (ED) staff who are not well versed in the treatment and management of von Willebrand disease (VWD).
The stated goals of the manual are to-
- Promote understanding of the complexities of VWD with an emphasis on rapid treatment for correction of the hemostatic abnormality
- Provide a reference for the emergency center staff
- Promote a consultative dialogue with the ED, treatment center, and patient/family
The publication is authored by hematology nurses Susan C. Zappa RN, Lucie Lacasse RN, Rose Jacobson RN, Sherry Purcell RN, and Karen Wulff RN. It was produced by Judith Bell, an Adult Nurse Practitioner from Buffalo, NY.
