Own Your Future: College, Career and Independence Workshop
Discover the resources and information you need to take advantage of the educational, career and scholarship opportunities that are available to the bleeding disorders community.
Sunday, January 27, 10:30 am – 3:30 PM, Ingleside Hotel in Pewaukee, WI. Register to secure your spot! Whether you’re considering attending a 4-year or a 2-year university, are a non-traditional student heading back to school, or are interested in pursuing a technical degree in the trades, this workshop will help you navigate your options and point you in the right direction to start achieving your goals.
Family members are also invited to learn how they can help support their loved one through the financial, mental, emotional and social challenges of their transition into a career or education path.
Programming
The day will begin at 10:30 am with a general session followed by a lunch before splitting off into two tracks with two rounds of breakout sessions:
Young adults Track: For those contemplating higher education, career options and scholarship opportunities.
Families Track: For those who will be supporting a loved one during this transitional period of their lives.
Tracks are recommended, but not enforced.
The finalized agenda will be announced before the event. Session topics include the following:
- Scholarship opportunities (specifically for those affected by bleeding disorders)
- How to Choose and Navigate an Education or career Path
- College and Career Counseling
- Writing Workshop for college applications and scholarship submissions
- Navigating financial aid and funding your education
