NBDF Enhances Health Access with Strategic Department Expansion
NBDF Expands Health Access Initiatives Through Strategic Department Evolution
Foundation Continues Mission Alignment with Enhanced Focus on Health Access,
and Innovation to Better Serve Growing Community Needs.
Since evolving from the National Hemophilia Foundation to become the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation (NBDF) in 2023, the organization has strategically evaluated all aspects of its operations to better align with its comprehensive mission. Today, NBDF announced the next step in this organizational evolution: the strategic enhancement of its Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (HEDI) department into the Health Access & Strategic Innovation (HASI) department.
“Following our January statement to the bleeding disorders community, this strategic evolution allows us to build upon our successful equity initiatives while developing innovative solutions to address complex healthcare barriers,” said Phil Gattone, President and Chief Executive Officer of NBDF. “By expanding our focus through HASI, we’re strengthening our ability to serve every member of the bleeding disorders community with the specialized support they need.”
The HASI department will broaden NBDF’s existing programs while continuing to address emerging community needs using its pathway model, E3 (engage, empower, and elevate) model, and the 10-year strategic plan laid out by the team in 2024.
Key focus areas include:
- Increasing access to care for all
- Empowerment and advocacy
- Cultural humility
- Addressing drivers of health
This transition reinforces NBDF’s dedication to serving marginalized and minoritized populations, and all who face healthcare challenges. The foundation remains committed to promoting health equity and ensuring all individuals have access to the resources and support they need.
Dawn Rotellini, Chief Operating Officer of NBDF, highlighted the strategic timing of this evolution: “As we’ve grown to serve the entire bleeding disorders community, we recognized the need to innovate how we deliver support and resources. The HASI department positions us to develop cutting-edge solutions while maintaining our deep commitment to community-centered care. This is about building on our strengths to create more pathways to access and support.”
