GLHF Plans Successful 2023 Regional Meeting – 13 HTCs Join to Discuss Goals and Emerging Issues

Did you know that GLHF serves as the Regional Core Center of Region V-West/Northern States Region for the United States Hemophilia Treatment Center Network (USHTCN)?

GLHF oversees a five-state region including 13 Hemophilia Treatment Centers (HTCs) in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. In this role, we facilitate two federal grants through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). These grants ensure that all HTCs provide comprehensive care to bleeding disorders populations, collect disease surveillance data and contribute to national public health measures such as Healthy People 2030.

Annually, GLHF plans and executes a Regional Meeting for the region’s HTCs to collaborate, discuss grant goals and emerging issues in bleeding disorders care. GLHF recently hosted the 2023 Regional Meeting November 9 – 10. This was our first in-person Regional Meeting since the onset of COVID-19. 115 people attended in-person or virtually.  The informative sessions included topics such as Quality Improvement/Transition, Mental Health for Providers and Patients (including improv exercises), Case Studies, Emerging Therapies, Reaching Underserved Populations, and Insurance Updates.

The next regional meeting is planned virtually for Fall 2024. Thank you to our regional HTCS for their passion and commitment to the bleeding disorders community!
