Family Camp Broadens Scope While Providing a Bonding Experience for Families Impacted by Bleeding Disorders

GLHF hosted its eleventh year of Family Camp October 4-6 in Campbellsport, WI. We are thrilled to return to the original Family Camp site, and current site of Camp Klotty Pine. We hosted six families for a weekend of connection, support, and family fun. Parents took part in a special parenting workshop on Saturday, then families explored camp activities throughout the weekend including rock climbing, arts and crafts, and archery. Even the rain couldn’t stop us from taking it all in as families gathered for a Dutch auction, talent show, and evening fire.

Family Camp exposes families interested in attending Camp Klotty in the future to the camp site, staff, and programming. It also encourages families that have already attended summer camp to reconnect, and serve as mentors to younger families. We understand that summer camp isn’t for everyone, which is why we invite all families to enjoy a weekend in the outdoors together. Family Camp truly is for everyone!

“Family Camp was initially aimed at families preparing their children to attend summer camp on their own,” said Karin Koppen, Director of Camp and Community Outreach. “Now that GLHF has expanded the reach of Family Camp to include a broader audience we are excited about the potential growth of the program and the ability to spark a love for the outdoors in our larger community,” said Karin.
