Camp Klotty Pine – Celebrating Independence, Friendship and Fun – Celebrating Another Successful Year!

Camp is an unforgettable experience for anyone fortunate enough to participate. Just one week each summer can give you memories that will last a lifetime and help shape you into the person you will become. It’s not just silly songs, fires, and swimming (although we love those too!). It’s building resilience, self-confidence, and grit.  Campers arrive at Camp Klotty Pine connected by their bleeding disorder diagnosis and leave a part of a community with a newfound camp family.  Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation (GLHF) was proud to run this incredible program for our eleventh summer in 2024.

From August 4-9, 52 campers spent the week at Camp Klotty Pine, just 45 minutes north of Milwaukee. We were honored to serve Wisconsin children this year and also expand our camp’s reach to invite Illinois campers as their camp restructures.

At camp, children patriciate in traditional camp programming like canoeing, climbing, arts & crafts, archery, theater, and swimming. Campers build friendships and bond in their cabins or around a fire, playing capture the flag, at the talent show, fishing at the lake, and being their true selves through it all.  What separates us from other summer camp? AT Camp Klotty Pine, campers take on an independent role in their self-care as they learn to infuse, and/or take charge of their treatment.  The camp health lodge is staffed by our Hemophilia Treatment Center partners making camp the perfect spot for campers to try new activities, learn,  and challenge themselves in a safe environment.

We are already looking forward to next summer as we move into our next decade of camping. If you are interested in camp, please contact our Camp Director, Karin, at kkoppen@glhf.org for more information.

Save the Date!

Please mark your calendars and stay tuned for more information on an upcoming Community Picnic and Hiking Program on October 13 at camp. The entire bleeding disorders community is invited to celebrate GLHF’s 50 years of service!
